The country’s most effective annual food show in the Philippines has yet achieved another success! This year’s World Food Expo was held last August 3-6, 2016 simultaneously in two of the biggest venues in the country, SMX Convention Center and World Trade Center, where visitors can purchase market-ready products on display and check out possible machine supplies for their businesses.

 

Throughout the four day event, WOFEX has prepared four activities that make it the most anticipated food show event of the year. One of which is the Philippine Culinary Cup which is a culinary competition certified by World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) where the best of the best chefs come to compete and showcase their culinary skills. Another is the WOFEX University that provides advanced education through industry practitioners who are invited to share their experiences and make the learning more fun and engaging. The World Food Summit offers industry-centric conferences, forums, and workshops that discuss trends, problems, and solutions that affect their industries. Lastly, through the hourly Kitchen Theater activity, notable chefs come and present their special dishes using the featured products of different exhibitors in the expo. Audiences are kept engaged in the activity through trivia questions asked by the hosts and eventually give away some of the featured products to them.

The five day event held at the SMX Convention Center last July 20-24 consists of a two day international conference and a three day international franchise expo. During the first two days, several industry experts and practitioners, both international and local, get to share their insights regarding franchising. They discussed different strategies on how to make franchise businesses successful whether you are an emerging franchisor or an established franchisor.

 

      

 

The third day of the event served as the first day of the franchise expo where the people who want to have the opportunity to be their own boss get to see more than 500 brands to franchise. The Vice President of the Philippines, Leni Robredo, opened the first day of the franchise expo by sharing through her speech how the government sees the big contribution of SMEs in the Philippine economy and their plan to support the SMEs in order for the country to progress. She was also the one who initiated the ribbon cutting that officially signaled the start of the expo.

 

    

 

As you go around the four halls of the event, you get to see different exhibitors. There are food, non-food, suppliers and allied services, and international exhibitors. There were educational franchise seminars held during the day to keep visitors informed about franchising and there were also celebrity guests who are endorsers of some brands in the event.

On the last day of the event, Nelsoft Systems Inc. even had a chance to educate a group of 3rd year college B.S. His business concept was a drugstore with retail merchandise inside to serve nearby hospital, residents and commercial establishments in the city. He graduated BS in Pharmacy at St. Paul University Philippines and got his work experience from St. Luke’s Pharmacy Department, one of the well-known hospitals in the country. Growing up in a business oriented family, he too, wants to have his own business in the future. Once his savings and pharmacy experience were enough to take the leap and start his own business, with the help of his family, he pursued his dream. Young as he may seem, he exactly knew what he wanted before he started his business: “To have a systematic process, adopt technology as early as possible to stay competitive in the market, and monitor everything in real-time.”
